Prestwick is the birthplace of the Open Championship after it hosted the inaugural tournament in 1860. The course is a ten-minute drive from Marine Hotel Troon and is a must-visit for golfing historians.
Royal Troon has two fabulous courses, the Old Course and the Portland Course. The Old Course is the most famous of the two and is a traditional out and back links course, rated amongst the best in the world due to sheer challenge of the course itself coupled with the picturesque views.
