Due to its unique position, built into surrounding ancient rainforest, The Datai is home to a wealth of wild animals and intriguing creatures. It's not unusual to find a wild pig sauntering past your door or the odd monkey tapping at the window. The Datai seamlessly blends into the natural environment, so the frogs and the lizards do as they wish, the monkeys make humorous fools of themselves and the insects carry on regardless. Expect to hear bird calls and monkey chatter throughout your stay, because this is a truly wild experience.

The hotel's traditional Malaysian junk schooner, Naga Pelangi, and its crew, are available for a variety of sailing excursions. The 'Discovery Tour' sails to Teluk Dalo Dang and offers the opportunity to enjoy a swim in the sea before cruising the Selat Chinchin, the channel between Langkawi and Koh Tarutao. Or, take the 'Day Cruise' to the pretty island of Tarutao, a National Marine Park of Thailand where you will have the opportunity to go sea kayaking or swimming.
